Most Popular Social Media Trends 2020

Social Media Today released their study of what the most popular trends were on Facebook and Instagram for 2020.

This study has a lot of information about social media trends 2020, and it’s really interesting.

There are a few things that might be important to your business as we head into 2021.

In the United States, there were three topics that were really quite important that were searched a lot.

1. Racial inequality

2. Local government

3. Advocacy

In addition, another interesting trend was the topic of self-compassion. That subject was an especially popular search topic for women ages 18 through 54.

First and foremost, if you have a social mission -talk about it. Especially if your social mission is related to racial equality or justice- talk about it (authentically).  If you don’t have a social mission, you need to get one. Being a socially conscious brand is becoming more and more important.  You have to be prepared for it.

Are you a company that sells products or services that are in that self-compassion realm?  For instance, skincare, yoga, pilates, or meditation. Basically, any business that helps you become a better “you”. Self-compassion is a trend and I would anticipate it’s something that people will continue to think about at least into the early part of 2021.
