How to Share a Post from your Facebook Company Page
One of the most common problems faced by business owners on Facebook is navigating the complexity to simply post in the right place. For the most part, we like to keep our personal posts within our personal network and our business-related posts on our company pages. Through blood, sweat, and tears, we’ve managed to separate work from the rest of life (at least online).
A Specific (but Common) Scenario
As a small business owner posting to social media, you’ll create a post sooner or later on your company Facebook page that you also want to share with your personal network. It only makes sense to leverage your personal network when you’re promoting special events or offers. You might expect to see an option to post the update in both places, but that’s not quite the case. Unless you use additional social media management tools, you can’t publish a post on both your personal feed and your business page at the same time.
For maximum impact, post as your company first.
If the content is coming from your business, you’ll want to publish the original post on your company page. (If you’re not sure how to make sure your post shows up on your company page instead of your personal profile, check out this detailed how-to post.) Then, to make sure your post gets shared with everyone in your personal network, you should share the post as yourself — in your non-business feed.
How to Share a post from Page to Profile
Once the post is live on your page, navigate to your business page. Find the post you want to share and click Share. In the menu that pops up, click “Share…”. A preview of your post will pop up.
- If you’re using Facebook on your computer, you’ll see a button at the top of the popup that starts with “Share.” Click that button and choose “Share on your own timeline.”
- If you’re using Facebook on your smartphone, the preview will take up your whole screen. At the very top you’ll see a headline and then “Tap to change.” Tap it to reveal a menu full of publishing destinations. Choose “Your Timeline” and you’ll be sharing the post as yourself – not your company – on your personal page.
That’s all there is to it – today.
