Content creation for small business is crucial to brands these days. Let’s chat about creating content on the fly even if you’re not comfortable behind the camera.
Here at BeeSmart, we know that content that is a little less produced and a little bit more raw or gritty or just real actually does a lot better on social channels. That’s why content marketing for small business is actually easier than you may think it is.
So, I want to invite you to get out your smartphone record that video and take that picture. Even if you do not think it is a good picture just take it anyways! Because you never know! And if you have a marketing team or marketing partner, they can probably take that picture or video and turn it into some great content for you to share on social media.
I understand a lot of people have reservations about creating content on the fly.
I understand that. But breaking through that isn’t as hard as it may seem. Honestly, I’ve been creating content on the fly like this for several years at this point and my first few videos when I look back at them now I just think oh my goodness what was I doing? That was just awful. There was no lighting. I didn’t have any makeup on. My hair wasn’t done. I was wearing an inside-out t-shirt. The point of me telling you that is you get better as you go. And you are never going to get better if you do not start in the first place.
So, get comfortable at least taking pictures. If you have not taken pictures of yourself yet at least start, there. Then you can kind of work into doing videos like this one. You can take a selfie of yourself working at your desk doing your day-to-day operations. It may seem really boring to you– but trust me when I say this that is the type of content that people love to see on social media, on your blogs, in your email marketing… Pretty much anywhere you put out content. That picture can really go a long way.
Another way you can create content on the fly is by taking pictures of your employees servicing customers or handling products. You could also record a video of a lesson that you learned recently. You want to keep it relatively short, but just record! Maybe it is a video giving one tip to something that you know your customers really need to hear. Those are just some ideas of content that you can create.
The most important thing is to just start and try to have some fun with it. It is a lot of fun to create content once you kind of get the feel for it. And if you can laugh at yourself. I appreciate the self-deprecating humor quite a bit. If you can laugh at yourself it makes it a little bit easier. But do not take yourself too seriously and have some fun with it! You will find that content creation is relatively easy to do.
